Hello!
I’m Manoela Orsi, a Brazilian-Israeli artist, and my artistic journey has been quite an adventure. I began my studies in architecture at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, where I developed a deep appreciation for design and space. In 2008, I took a significant step by moving to Milan to continue my studies at Politecnico di Milano, immersing myself in the rich world of design.
In 2013, I relocated to Israel and transitioned into the field of digital art, working 3 years as a digital designer and further dedicating eight years to working as an Art Director for different innovative hi-tech companies. While this experience is incredibly rewarding, I felt a strong pull to reconnect with my creative roots.
In 2023, I embraced the urge to express myself through painting, discovering my true passion. Now, I’m excited to explore this new artistic dimension and share my work with you. I invite you to join me on this journey of creativity and self-expression.

The Process
My painting process is mostly intuitive. When placed in front of a white canvas, I usually have no idea of color pallet, composition or final result I want to achieve.
I start by creating backgrounds, letting movement and color decisions come from inside, no thinking, no planning. I often get some circled shapes, which I relate to the Sun, spiral and eye shapes. Those forms are something natural to my inner expression.
I also write a lot in some of my backgrounds. Usually words, and sometimes sentences that come to mind.
Next step, I take a photograph as a reference to what I feel like will match to things I wrote, and felt during the background painting process. Then the process starts being less intuitive and more technical by painting by reference.
